Collagen Induction Therapy

14 Jan Collagen Induction Therapy

Collagen Induction Therapy. Have you heard of this before? If you think about the science behind the technology, it actually makes sense! Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT is a way for your skin to produce collagen on its own naturally. So like, when you have an injury to the skin, your skin naturally produces a layer of new skin to first cover the wound, and then once that sheds away, your fresh new layer of skin has regenerated.

I tried microneedling by using the Dermapen with Tasneem at the Brow Boutique, and started steady treatment sessions about a year ago. The process starts by applying numbing cream on the surface of the skin where you are doing the treatment. In my case, it was my face. We waited about 20 minutes until it ‘kicked’ in. Then she geared up in gloves and started up her device. It is a fast little pen that has about 20 tiny little pins that pricks the skin like a hundred times a minute. All I felt was her pen gliding along the surface of my skin. She takes short gentle strokes, first in one direction, then in another, as she covers all sections of my face. The forehead, cheeks, cheekbones, laughlines, upperlip, nose, chin, neck, and décolleté.   The whole process takes about 30 minutes. As soon as I’m done, I can already feel my face getting tight. Within the next few days, my skin will begin to peel, and after that, the skin feels brand new and rejuvenated! Luckily, I have no acne scars, but I do have a childhood chicken pox scar, and I have do have oily skin which makes my pores appear larger. I am also in my 40’s so this helps with anti-aging and reduces the appearance of wrinkles as well. I have repeated the treatment with Tasneem about every 8 weeks or so. I say or so, because we are both very busy women and lead very busy lives, so whenever we remember, we try to get it in. But this is basically the most invasive procedure that I do to my skin. Nothing else. I use no major skincare product lines, basically stick to cleansing with natural skin care products such as black soap and I moisturize with coconut oil. Microneedling is the most natural way that I can think of for my skin to help turn itself over. I’m a believer, and you should definitely give it a try. There really is no risk, and there is nothing to lose, except the scars, fine lines, and wrinkles on your face!
